Senior Spotlight week one 08-09
Congratulations to these Seniors:
Division Four:
Sydney - Merrill High School
Sydney has been a Varsity Vandal Competitive Cheerleader for the past 4 years while also competing at a middle school level. She is presently the co-captain for her squad. Syd is very versatile. She can tumble, fly, base and backspot. Syd has always been the one the coaches can count on to do whatever it takes to compete. In her 4 years she has performed in all 3 rounds and helped the Vandals reach the state finals twice with hopes to make it again this year. She has received all state honorable mention, all state second team, along with all conference, and all region awards. Along with competitive cheer she has been on the varsity sideline team for football 4 years and 2 years for basketball.
This winter semester Sydney is dual enrolled at Delta College. She continues to excel at school and in the sport she loves. Sydney faces the challenges of competing with a very focused attitude. She strives to better herself and her team mates by setting high standards. She continues to push herself harder than anyone else thus leading by example.
Division Two:
Abbigail - Byron Center
Abbigail has been on the Byron Center Varsity cheer team since she was an incoming freshman. Abbigail has always shown great talent and that is why she has been so valuable over the past four years. Abbigail not only cheers on the team, but has coached rocket teams throughout her high school career in order to continue growth througout the BC cheer program.
Abbigail maintains a very high GPA and has been an All State Academic Athlete for the past three years. She also earned All Conference Honors last year when her team won the school's first ever Conference Title in the OK Gold. Abbigail is also very involved her in church youth ministries and will be attending Cornerstone University to pursue her love of teaching. Without a doubt Abbigail has a great sense of humor that her team could not do without! Abbigail "The Rose" is a great teammate, student, family member and friend! We love you!!!

Division One:
Shali - East Kentwood
Shali is a four year member of the East Kentwood Varsity cheer team. She has been a flyer in round three for all four years. She was All-Region and 2nd team All-State last year. She is a very strong competitor. She has a can-do attitude and is always willing to try new skills.
Shali maintains a high GPA while taking several AP courses. She was an outstanding diver for three years in high school. She has also been an All-State golfer. She plans to go to college at Grand Valley next year.
Shali's sweet smile and positive attitude will be greatly missed next year!
