Camp information for Coaches
How to get ready for camp
- Don't wait until camp to get your girls together. The sisters recommend getting your team together for at least two weeks of conditioning prior to camp.
- Its a good idea to put together some stunt groups before camp so the girls get used to timing and balance with that group.
- Coordinate outfits for your girls (see below). Most teams clothing matches each day.
- Decide as a team what your goal is for camp - what do you want to ge tout of the week. If you go in without a clear direction, there is a good chance you will not get what you wanted out of the camp experience.
What to expect
- Expect your girls to have to work hard
- Expect it to be hot, or cold, or wet, or buggy and be prepared for all of them
- Expect the days to be long and the week to fly by
- Expect to have to motivate your girls to keep going - you might want to plan some activities or games to get them through the tough times
- Expect the girls to need water or snacks by providing those things (or getting parents to) you can help your team to stay focused on learning as much as possible
Who to bring
- If you already have chosen your sideline team for the fall this is an easy call - bring them all.
- If you have not had cuts, bring as many girls as possible - you never know who is going to "blossom" into the stud cheerleader over the course of the week.
- If you can bring your JV/Frosh girls even better. The more experience they get the better they will be down the road
What to bring
- Bring a cooler for ice. When you have time that the girls are large group instruction you can get ice and water.
- Bring a LOT of sunscreen.
What to wear
- Be prepared for everything! Sun, cold, rain, bugs, yucky tasting water, HOT nights trying to sleep (bring fans!)
- The Sisters recommend that your team have two different coordinated outfits for each day of camp - they may want to change a couple times a day if they get sweaty or dirty or they spill or they have a water fight :-) See our cheerwear page if you need help coordinating or ordering outfits.
- Make sure they bring a couple pairs of good shoes in case one pair gets wet or muddy
- Make sure to check if there are any special dress up days and coordinate that for your team!
- Most importantly wear a SMILE - even when you least feel like it!
