Ask the Judges - Week Four 07-08
Here is question #4:

"I notice as a coach that sometimes execution is the hardest thing to attain in Round 3.  I was always under the impression that execution was an overall score of tumbling and stunts.  What actually defines and describes what judges look for on overall execution.  Is is height of tumbling? how straight a backhandspring is, how well the tumbling is connected, timing of tumbling, or relevance of the tumbling in the round?  When it comes to stunts is it what is going on in the air or on the ground, does it mean how pretty the flyer goes up or how secure the bases are on the ground, by not shuffling their feet. Does the backspot play a huge role in the execution or just the bases? flyer? Is it the tightness and crispness of the catch in the cradle? How tight the twist cradles are?  The bobbing or saving of stunts? Or the timing and precision of the stunts relevant to each other?  I never really understood how execution was truely determined, and how do teams get the execution bonus?   Thanks so much."
