Here is question #1:
"I read the question from last year about dropping numbers, but I have a follow up to that. With the competitor bonus for having more girls on the floor does that change how you as a judge look at numbers in the round? As a coach I am really torn. We can have 14 girls do the skills average or 10 do our skills really well. With the new multiplier, has the opinion changed of what judges would rather see - more girls not as good, or fewer girls doing really well?"
Answers from the MCHIC Judges Advisory Panel:
Judge #1:
It is always best to perform the skills clean and safe.
Judge #2:
I personally want to see perfection so put the best girls out there what ever the number!
Judge #3:
As a judge I look at the number of girls on the floor to verify the # you submitted is correct. With the competitor bonus that does not change how I judge as a judge. I am still judging what I see and the number of errors.
Judge #4:
This is probably something that we could go back and forth on, but it is definitely a balancing act for coaches. Put together your best line-up while including as many girls as possible to make the most of the competitor bonus. Bottom line, do the math - figure the different number of girls scoring different ways (5,6,7,8,9) and compare scores with different numbers of girls. Look for the best possible combination for your team. Good luck!
